Louise earned an MA in Linguistics, an MS in Ecology, and is an Athaneum Fellow in Poetry. She earned a gold medal in a triathlon in The Dalles, Oregon, and holds a 3rd degree black belt in Jujitsu and Taiho-Jutsu. She also took a 26-year break in her professional life to raise five children.
